Rainier Day Trip from Seattle

This post is mostly for the Hammonds and Hessmans since it’s about the Seattle portion of the trip. We have a Chevy Suburban rental car on Friday and Saturday while in Seattle (July 16-17). DTA has built a suggested itinerary for the day trip down to Mt. Rainier on Friday so we could get an idea of what the day looks like. We can see where the road takes us and adjust as we go, but I thought it was good to have a general plan of direction. Plenty of time to research things around Rainier...

Seattle

Anchorage Hotel Options

We have rooms at the Hotel Captain Cook for Friday night, July 2 covered under our cruise fare and booked through Princess. Captain Cook is sold out for Thursday night, July 1 and is $434 per night when available. It’s possible that Princess has a room block and Sherry could get us rooms but it would be at the $434 rate per room. We shouldn't delay in booking a tour if you want to see whales in Juneau. There are a number of tours from which to choose. There are whale-only tours and tours that combine whale watching with a visit to Mendenhall Glacier. There are tours from Princess and private tours through local operators. I've outlined all the options in this PDF: The DeTamples will likely go ahead and book the one I highlighted in the PDF.
