Whale watching tours are popular in July! We shouldn't delay in booking a tour if you want to see whales in Juneau. There are a number of tours from which to choose. There are whale-only tours and tours that combine whale watching with a visit to Mendenhall Glacier. There are tours from Princess and private tours through local operators. Princess does have excursions offered for the land portion of our trip. However, their choices are limited when I compare them to 10 years ago and they aren’t available on the Princess Cruise site until 12 weeks before the trip. I think it’s safe to book outside Princess with local tour operators for land excursions and this would give us more options plus the ability to book those further in advance.
